History Focus

Take a long look outside your front door, take a moment. Remember. Think. Imagine. You will see it soon enough. The past. It sits alongside our time almost as a friend not completely understood and many times overlooked. Yet, if you take that moment then clarity will descend. Imagination will take over & a passionate desire for knowledge will develop.

History is a passion that can be ignited and shared regardless of age. Regardless of time. And regardless initial misconceptions of a period. One corner may provide a glimpse into our great grandparents lives during the Second World War. With the next turning an eye is opened upon the middle ages.

What will you see. View a grave stone that reveals a lens into the triumphs & tragedies of a once proud person? The architecture of the 1920’s, Modernism or Bauhaus? Lost entertainment, theatres, sports clubs and dance halls? Maybe the Prisoner of War Camps, RAF Fields, Roman Settlements or Brutal Oppression? Arthur Askey? Winston Churchill? Bob Hope? Or George Formby?

Our aim is to allow an ease for both the seasoned & budding History enthusiast to assess the places of historical interest to them, whether that be on the doorstep or whilst traversing the Country.

Let our journey through History be Shared, as those that came before us share in our journey today.

Still as yet in the construction stage, but soon enough we will be there to aid you on your journey into the past.

A Wonderful Location for Today

Rufford Old Hall is a Jacobean style manor house originally constructed in 1530. The only part of the original structure that remains from this time is the Great Hall, yet additions made in 1661 and as recently as the 1820’s has added to the beauty of the historic hall. Surrounded by beautiful gardens this National Trust site is well worth a visit for history enthusiasts of all ages. It is located on the A59 in the small village of Rufford in West Lancashire, not far from Preston, Southport & Ormskirk. On your trip to this Grade One listed property you maybe fortunate, or unfortunate, to witness the famous Grey Lady that frequents the grounds centuries after her residency ended.
